Beni

This is Beni, a shiba inu who belongs to a friend and colleague. A slow-dry medium was used for this painting and I was surprised at what a difference it made. I like to do alla prima, but am a slow painter and often find that the paint begins to dry on the canvas before I have a chance to finish the painting. The painting will take longer to dry, but that's ok...there's no rush.

Catnap

SOLD

This is Casey. Casey is my grandson's cat. I'm not sure, but I suspect Casey spent time as a zen master in the art of relaxation during one of his nine lives.

Chloe

SOLD
Tennis, anyone?

I've reworked this painting several times. It just didn't look right. I finally changed the background color to a medium value. I think that helped. The previous dark background seemed to overwhelm the dog's face, and also obscured the tennis ball. I like the heavier neutral impasto background.

Molly

SOLD
Our beautiful Molly girl. Molly is my mom's springer spaniel, and a beloved member of our family. Molly is a big girl who thinks she is a lap dog. She just exudes love and happiness. Molly was my dad's loyal companion, and stayed close by his side until he died. I have poignant memories of Dad and Mom with Molly on the beach near the Florence jetty. Molly was a young dog at that time and her ears would fly in the wind as she ran back and forth on the beach.  She's an old girl now, and living a cozy life with my mom in Arizona. Sweet, sweet Molly.
