Figure Study

I hadn't planned to post a painting tonight, but what the heck...this is the underpainting for a figure study that I started this evening in open studio. This is a two-session pose, so I'll get to finish it next week. This model is the best in town - she's able to sit like a statue, and after each break, she manages to find the exact same pose - amazing!

I was trying to state values with this study. It's a real challenge for me, and good practice.

You're off to a magnificent start. Great skin tones already!

Thanks, Nora! I approach open studio with great trepidation - I always feel like I should apologize to the model ("No, I don't really think you look like that - I'm just having a little trouble controlling the paint") I felt a tad bit better about this one...although I have another session to get through before I'm safe!
Thanks for your kind comments!

Sue, I agree with Nora. You are off to a great start. And, I applaud you for even going to open studio!

I adore your animal paintings; they are so full of joy.

Sandy - Thanks so much! I think the things that draw me to open studio are the great people and the inclusive atmosphere - however, it's a humbling experience - for sure!
